A popular alternative to the NBN for developments is the CCN solution. With the NBN there is no control over the network from end to end, meaning that multiple providers are using the same bandwidth to provide a service. This eliminates the ability to manage congestion on the network and therefore adversely affects the consumer experience. With CCN, the network is delivered through a completely private link that is inaccessible to other users and controlled by CCN from end to end. That means an end to congestion but also the ability to provide many more services over one network. The exclusive use of the node by CCN in these developments negates the need to build parallel networks for security applications, access systems and remote management. All these necessities would come at an extra cost to a developer with the NBN, because as an un-managed network, it is impossible to manage these services over it. Not only does the development realise cost benefits through this, but the total cost to bring fibre to the development and connect individual residences is significantly reduced.
